## What is Asthma Inhaler?

An asthma inhaler is a medical device used to deliver medication directly into the lungs to relieve asthma symptoms. There are different types of inhalers, including metered-dose inhalers (MDIs) and dry powder inhalers (DPIs).

An asthma inhaler is a handheld device used to deliver medication directly to the lungs, commonly used by individuals with asthma. Inhalers come in various types, including metered-dose inhalers (MDIs) and dry powder inhalers (DPIs). They contain bronchodilators and corticosteroids. Bronchodilators provide quick relief by relaxing the muscles around the airways, while corticosteroids help reduce inflammation and prevent symptoms.

Proper technique is crucial for effective delivery of medication, and instructions should be followed as prescribed by healthcare professionals. Regular checks of the inhaler’s expiration date and storage at room temperature away from sunlight are recommended .

## Steps to Use an Asthma Inhaler

1. Shake the inhaler well before use
2. Remove the cap and attach a spacer if available
3. Have the casualty exhale fully, place the mouthpiece in their mouth, and press the inhaler while they inhale slowly
4. Hold the breath for about 10 seconds to allow the medication to reach deep into the lungs
